Thank you for reading the story, Good Enough Is Good Enough.
Its one-line takeaway is: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Now grab your notebook or journal and if this line evokes something in you, write down what you are thinking.
If not, here are three prompts – all related to the story – to write about instead:
- Think about a long-standing tradition, habit, or method in your family or personal life that has been “good enough” for many years. Describe this tradition and argue for the importance of leaving it alone, even if there are newer, “better” ways to do it.
- As a quilter, I was led astray by another professional’s advice. Write about a time you followed the advice of an expert in your field or hobby, only to learn their advice did not work for you.
- My quest for the perfect soup was a “culinary misadventure.” Write about a “misadventure” you had in a hobby, craft, or project.
As always, write about one of these prompts or all of them. There is no right or wrong, just what feels best to you.
