Thank you for reading the story, “Still Young Enough to Have a Crush.”
Its takeaway is: Remember the past, create the present, inspire the future.
Now grab your notebook or journal and if this line evokes something in you, write down what you are thinking.
If not, here are three prompts – borrowed from the story – to write about instead:
- This story goes in a different direction from what is implied in the title. But, let’s enjoy the title itself! Write about a crush you had as a young person and juxtapose it with a crush you had when a bit – or a lot – older.
- And then as the story continues, one might be misdirected to think it is about professional jealousies. Another juicy topic! Write about a time when you experienced professional jealousy – or when you were the object of professional jealousy. Is there some lesson learned that you can see with the advantage of time?
- OK, so the story is really about aging as we watch three generations of musicians work together at the same event. Write about a time when you were the youngest of three generations, or the oldest of three generations, or smack dab in the middle. How does it feel to be in each of those positions?
As always, write about one of these prompts or all of them. There is no right or wrong, just what feels best to you.
