Thank you for reading the story, “We Are Family.”
Its takeaway is: Each generation will reap what the former generation has sown.
Now grab your notebook or journal and if this line evokes something in you, write down what you are thinking.
If not, here are three prompts – borrowed from the story – to write about instead:
- Ranking all your family members by age, where do you fall in the hierarchy? How soon do you anticipate being a family elder and what do you suppose that will feel like?
- Make a list of five or six family favorites from the dinner table. Then pick one of those recipes to write about in detail.
- As a result of this story, I am trying to stay better in touch with my family members. Who might you reach out to for this purpose? Either write about that person here, or sit down at your computer and write an email to that person right this very minute.
As always, write about one of these prompts or all of them. There is no right or wrong, just what feels best to you.
