Thank you for reading the story, Deciphering Hillel Through the Years
Its takeaway is: You owe yourself the love you so freely give to other people.
You will notice that this story has three quotes and images instead of just one, and all of them have to do with selfcare. This is because selfcare is a topic of high importance to me. Why? They say we teach best that which we most need to learn, so taking care of myself is something I am still trying to learn.
If you are too, here are three questions to ponder and write about.
- List a handful of ways you take care of other people. Now consider doing all those things for yourself. Do you cook favorite meals for them? Buy them little gifts? What else?
- If you went to a spa where pampering was elevated to an artform, what services would you want to find there? Pretend to spend a heavenly day there – and write about it.
- Yes, yes. We all want our loved ones to show us love. We don’t want this as a do-it-yourself project! Well, here’s the deal: People don’t know what you need unless you tell them. So write a letter to some loved one telling them what you need. You don’t have to send the letter, but writing it might be an eye-opener.
As always, write about one of these prompts or all of them. There is no right or wrong, just what feels best to you.
