Thank you for reading the story, “God Dancing on the Ceiling.”
Its takeaway is: If you can’t believe in God, believe in sunbeams. Either way, bask in the warmth.
Now grab your notebook or journal and if this line evokes something in you, write down what you are thinking.
If not, here are three prompts – borrowed from the story – to write about instead:
- Have you ever had a “scary health episode”? Write about it. Even if it was long ago, you might find some emotions waiting to be unpacked.
- How have your thoughts of God changed through the years? Do you believe in God? Want to believe? Or do you think the notion of a divine being is poppycock?
- Write about a day when the sun warmed your soul. Maybe at the beach? Maybe the first sunny day after a winter storm? Maybe some random day when the sun peaked out from beneath the clouds to bring you joy?
As always, write about one of these prompts or all of them. There is no right or wrong, just what feels best to you.
