Greetings! It has been my habit to post a new blog on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. But what happens when there are five Tuesdays? It seems like the perfect opportunity to share the top five book reviews from the new Book Blog section of my website. Here they are now!
The Dutch House is the story of Maeve and Danny Conroy, their wicked stepmother, and the mansion they all covet: The Dutch House. I read three books by Ann Patchett recently and this was my favorite. The other two are: Commonwealth and This Is the Story of a Happy Marriage.
Failing Up is by Leslie Odom, Jr. He was in the original Broadway cast of Hamilton, starring as Aaron Burr. His book is chock-full of interesting advice for creative people.
The Italian Teacher features Bear Bavinsky, a self-absorbed artistic genius. When he dies suddenly, the book takes a turn that will give book clubs and art aficionados LOTS to talk about. Indeed, the ending will worry you for a long time…
Maybe You Should Talk to Someone is written by a psychotherapist who has experience not only as a therapist, but as a patient. Looking into the lives of others – through the eyes of a trained therapist and terrific writer – makes for a very compelling reading experience.
Rules for Visiting is a book I LOVED! If you’re not always sure how to negotiate friendship, this book’s for you. If your back story makes your current life difficult, this book’s for you. If you’ve ever thought of taking to your bed and not coming out, this book’s for you. And finally, if you wonder if it is possible to move from isolation to connection, this book’s for you.
